Our troops on deployment say thanks
I have been receiving feedback from those in Afghanistan and the over riding message that comes through is that the troops really appreciate the fact that people (other than family and friends) are thinking of them.
Below is a sample of the replies from over there in response to items being sent to them in either personal care packages or Squadron packages.
G'day mate,
Mate, with the Unit birthday coming up, could you please pass on the warmest regards from the OC, officers and soldiers of B 3/4 to all the association members. The SQN is upholding the finest of traditions and standards that have been forged by those that have served before us. Personally, I sincerely look forward to be able to meet you mate, we will have to organize a gathering at the unit within the historical 'Scorpion Club' to share stories and continue to forge the bond of past and present Cavalrymen.
Cheers mate,
Andrew

John, thank you for your wishes and your ongoing support, I know that it means a lot to the boys who are deployed to have the association and past SQN members thinking of them so far away from home. We had a day of celebration last Friday in an effort to celebrate and also relive some of the days gone by. A good day was had by all and we will now focus on the boys who are deployed once more. From the Rear Details OC and soldiers of B SQN 3rd/4th CAV REGT, many happy returns to you as well. Once again, thank you for your on going support.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Good morning, John.
Thanks for the email and the kind contribution toward making life more comfortable for the blokes (and girls too!) over here. Please extend my gratitude to the ladies for their efforts with knitting and with the Rosaries.
The guys often comment that they didn't know so many people back in Australia cared about them enough to send things over here as they have.

John,
I have separately sent you through a letter of appreciation (which will probably take 3-4 weeks to get to you). The support that you and the Association have provided to B Sqn 3/4 Cav Regt soldiers has been exceptional. All that you have sent has been equally distributed amongst the Team. Thankyou once again and Merry Christmas to you and to yours.
Kind regards,
Michael Scott

John, once again thankyou and the association for the support, the lads truly appreciate it. The Wallaby gear went down a treat. I will have the lads complete an article and attach some photo's. The mighty B SQN continues to provide the protected lift capability for the Battle Group. The lads and the vehicles are holding up well and would make the old and bold's proud. Hope all is well and I will get the articles and photo's back ASAP.
Regards,

Sir,
Recently the packages sent by the association arrived at MNB-TK, members of 2 Troop "Snoop Troop" were extremely thrilled to take receipt of these packages.
As I am sure you are aware the majority of B SQN 3/4 CAV REGT is currently deployed to Urazghan with MTF-3.
On behalf of the soldiers and Troop Leader of Snoop Troop I wish to convey out heartfelt thanks for the packages.
It is a nice reminder for the boys that we are in the thoughts of those at home.
Kind Regards

G'day John
Much appreciate all the Morale Packages for the troops! Yes, the Wallaby scarves will be a definite hit. Again, all support is very much appreciated.
It is great to see that our little bit helps the troops in the field especially when it is not from a family member. Merry Xmass.
Yeah! Even better to see that 40+ years later the boys are actually receivng them. Some old memories don't fade. I recall getting a letter from my upset Mum in 1969 because I hadn't acknowledged the goodies parcel she had sent. Simple answer? Never saw it!!
Ah, yes JW, the ubiquitous Chrissie parcel from home.
I'll never forget the one I received from Penrith RSL Ladies' Auxiliary, full of Womens Weeklies, a Chrissie cake, a pair of woolen mittens and a balaclava. God Bless 'em!!
Come on all you Association members!!!! Where are you??
How about showing some appreciation for your Committee's efforts to support our fellow Black Hats on active service. They're doin gthison your behalf and a little thanks and appreciation for their endeavours thus far would go a long way. You wanted to have an Assn and C'ttee that was actively involved in things - now you do have and we hear nothing. Nada. Zip. Where the bloody hell are you all??
Noel
Noel,
You are right that is what we wanted of the Assn and committee.
On behalf of my wife and myself I would like to say a big thank you to all those involved in the packages for the Squadron.
We wish them a speedy and safe return to Aus in the not to distant future.
To those involved again THANK YOU ALL.
