RAAC CORPORATION UPDATE
I do not intend to pressure Rod to obtain these papers until he feels Helen is ready and in the right frame of mind to hand them over. I am also cognisant of the fact that Rod's work commitments are paramount.
I attended a meeting in Canbera on 27/12/11 with the other 2 Interim Directors to discuss the situation with regard to the future of the Corporation. It is still going to go ahead and we hope to meet again in March, in Sydney.
That meeting is predicated on me receiving any papers kept by Luigi related to the Corporation.
A copy of the Minutes of the meeting of 27/12 was sent to the Representative Hon Col RAAC, Maj Gen Roger Powell AM (Ret'd) on 30/12, with whom I have also been in regular contact with, and who has provided guidance and advice for which I am extremely grateful, since Luigi's death.
It is Roger's clear and unambiguous view that the Corporation proceed as a fitting memorial to Luigi and his vision, and that was transmitted by me to the other 2 Interim Directors on 27/12/11.
At Roger's recommendation, I then forwarded those Minutes to all Honorary Colonels plus the Head of Corps along with an attached copy of the Draft Constitution.
Of all the Honorary Colonels, David (Spike) Mc Caskill (Hon Col B Sqn 3/4) was the only addressee to date who gave me the courtesy of a response, acknowledging receipt of the Minutes and Draft Constitution.
I am meeting with Roger Powell again on 26/2/12 and intend to discuss the matter some more, then.
The ultimate aim is to continue Luigi's work and stand the Corporation up.
We can't do that until we see the papers that Rod Earle will obtain.
Thanks for all that Noel. I am in the process of liaising with our Patron to give him an update on this/our association. This , the Corporation, MUST happen and I'm sure it will, given the efforts of Luigi,RIP) and yourself and others. We as an association will continue to throw whatever support behind it that we can to ensure it.
We , in our short reincarnation, have achieved a lot of good things for the Squadron and will continue to do so for ALL Cavalry/Armour brothers-in-arms on deployment. We do need more members to join up and after visiting this site should do so when our achievemnets come to light shortly.
We suffer what I call the Cavalry Curse in that we are a relatively small mob and are spread far and wide, not only across our great land but across the world as well, but lets hear it for cyber space!!
Come on 3/4 blokes every where. This is your Association and if you want to keep the Association and this site alive then let's have you.
resolutely from the Pres. JW.
On'ya Noel, John keep up the good work and thanks from one far away from the face.
Muzza.
Hi Muzz, If you are not at the 'face' of things does that mean you are in jeopardy of becomming the butt of jokes and are at the RS end again.
.

Hey Muzza did I mention that I met up with Col Meachum, Gary Buckland, Greg Vievers and Steve Pallot amongst many others at Ike's funeral, they all say G'day.
Cheers for now
John
G'Day AJ, I am often on the recieving end fo a joke or two but as I tell people, I have had the piss pulled out of me by payed professionals and have survived so they can BUT try (ha ha).
Good to hear that so many of the boy's made it to see Ike off and a pity a lot more of us could not be there.
One of these days I'll make it over to see you blokes.
Muzza.
So are you saying you don't mind a bit of travel?
Yes John, Jane and I like to get away when we can. We are planning to go back to South America next Jan for 3/4 months. We also hope to head into Europe in 2014.
